The Saudi telecoms shiny silver satellite was successfully deployed after lift-off of about 34 minutes from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The satellite is designed to provide television, internet, telephone, and secure communications to customers in the Middle East.

India, Netherlands agree to boost bilateral ties

The blackhole was found in the centre of galaxy M87 (Messier 87)(appx 55million light years from Earth).

This telescope is made of up eight independent observatories and acts as one enormous detector. It collected the data for the first black hole image in April 2017 but it took two years for scientists to assemble the images with the help of Katie Bouman.

Banks close FY19 with 13.24% credit growth, deposits up 10.03%

The "Utkarsh Bangla" project aims at creating a pool of skilled candidates who are industry ready:The aim of this scheme is to give vocational training to school dropouts by providing 400 to 1200 hours of training free of any charge, thus providing impetus to increase employment opportunities for the young generation.The Training will be in trained in driving, tailoring, repairing television and other electronic equipments, beautician courses etc.The syllabus for courses under this scheme has been made in the same level as the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework.

"Sabooj Sathi" scheme,environment-friendly bi-cycles are distributed to students between class IX and XII studying in government run and government aided schools and madrashas of the state.

The West Bengal government had received another UN award in 2017 for its 'Kanyashree' project, a targeted conditional cash transfer scheme aimed at promoting education among girls.

Reinsurance brokers permitted to open foreign currency accounts, says RBI

The Reserve Bank of India sanctioned reinsurance brokers to initiate non-interest bearing foreign currency accounts with banks for undertaking transactions.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) had issued notification and following this the RBI declared Foreign Exchange Management (Foreign Currency Accounts by a resident person in India) Regulations, 2015 – Opening of Foreign Currency Accounts by Re-insurance and Composite Insurance brokers.

Foreign currency account refers to a bank account operated in currency other than the currency of India or Bhutan or Nepal.

The new chests should have a processing capacity of 6.6 lakh pieces of banknotes per day with the exception of 2.1 lakh pieces of banknotes per day for hilly/ inaccessible places.

The currency chests should be open to adopting automation and adaptability to implement IT solutions,RBI Ordered.

India has retained its top spot on remittances, according to the latest edition of the World Bank’s Migration and Development Brief. Over the last three years, India has registered a significant flow of remittances from $62.7 billion in 2016 to $65.3 billion 2017.

India retained its position as the world’s top recipient of remittances with its diaspora sending a whopping $79 billion back home in 2018, the World Bank said in a report.

“Remittances grew by more than 14% in India, where a flooding disaster in Kerala likely boosted the financial help that migrants sent to families,” said the World Bank.

India was followed by China (USD 67 billion), Mexico (USD 36 billion), the Philippines (USD 34 billion), and Egypt (USD 29 billion)

IDBI Bank is under the prompt corrective action framework of the RBI. For a bank to come out of PCA, it has to report profit and its net NPA should be below 6 per cent.
